Sir, - May I avail of your letters page to ask if anyone out there knows the whereabouts of a five minute newsreel film called Achill, Island of Sorrows? Made by the Electra Company, formerly of 57 Rutland Square, Dublin, and filmed by cameraman Charles Haigh, the film documents the funeral on September 21st, 1937 on Achill Island of the 10 young men who died tragically in a "bothy" fire in Kirkintilloch, Scotland during the night of September 16th.

We understand that the film was released country-wide and shown at the Stephen's Green Cinema from October 2nd. Needless to say, we have tried all archive sources without any result. Crescendo Concepts is currently producing a documentary for TG4 centring on the disaster and any news of this important film would be greatly appreciated. - Yours, etc.,
