Madam, –   The recent UN Security Council resolution pushed by the United States  and its leading Western allies amounts to a declaration of war on the people of Libya.    Regardless how one feels about Libya today and the role of the Gadafy government  or how one feels about the protesters in the street, a US/French-led war in Libya would be a disaster for the Libya people and for peace around the world.

Make no mistake, the US intentions have nothing to do with promoting freedom and democracy throughout North Africa. Its motivation once again has to do with controlling the oil throughout the region.  If  Libya’s primary natural  resource was growing pineapples, the United States government would not have the US fifth fleet based in Bahrain,  nor would it care less about its people seeking freedom and democratic principles.  Once again: “No blood for oil”. – Yours, etc,
