Sir, Agreed, Mrs. O'Faolain there has never been and will never be "trust" between Eire and the UK. Given that most of us accept as an equally valid fact that governments rule our countries by consent, the recent outrages clearly show the best way forward would be (1) we remove our troops our investment in Northern Ireland's welfare costs, and relieve our taxpayers of ridiculous bills (2) your Government decides how it can govern by consent and rule of law the two warring factions in Northern Ireland.
I wrote constantly over the years to my Government, asking that this should be done all my friends agree. Over 90 per cent of us here would support this move. Do you feel sure your Gardai and Army can cope in the inevitable civil war? We really do wish you luck! Yours, etc., Fowlers Farm Cottages, Lower Blunsdon, Swindon SW2 4BJ.
