Sir, - Michael Purser, in his letter of July 24th, implies that your paper no longer caters for all traditions on this island, and that coverage of Drumcree was weighted against his fellow unionists in the North.

Drumcree was not caused by Irish nationalism but rather, to extend Mr Purser's metaphor, by the annual festering of another old sore - tribal, hegemonic, anachronistic and ultranationalistic. This has yet to be lanced by the Surgeon Major. - Yours, etc.,
