Madam, – Fatemeh Ardaneh (October 13th) of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran misreads my letter of October 7th about Brian Cowen’s stunning conversion to democratic values. When I wrote my remarks about the Taoiseach’s ground-breaking statement on polling day that “the people’s decision is sovereign”, I made an ironic reference to counsellor Ardaneh’s country.
I was indeed thinking of a recent case of abuse of human rights, but not in Iran. – Yours, etc,
