Sir, – Padraig Magowan (July 3rd) says that the jury struck a blow for freedom of assembly. The function of a jury is to decide, based on the evidence, if the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. There is no justification for asserting that this jury did anything other than perform that duty. – Yours, etc,
