Sir, – I see that some letter-writers are outraged at the treatment of Pat Hickey in Brazil. Their issue seems to be that such things could not happen here. That is the problem, is it not? – Yours, etc,
IAN KAVANAGH,
Kilmainham,
Dublin 8.
Sir, – Irish passports remain the property of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
There is as yet no evidence to justify a prosecution of those Irish citizens who have had their passports seized by the Brazilian authorities.
What is the Minister doing to get them back? – Yours, etc,
DAVID NELSON,
Dunshaughlin,
Co Meath.
Sir, – Regarding the upcoming inquiry, if anyone who is in charge can get within 26 miles and 385 yards of the truth, then they deserve a medal – a miraculous one. – Yours, etc,
TOM McCLELLAND,
Leixlip,
Co Kildare.
