Madam, - What has happened the Taoiseach? First he caved in to the unions on decentralisation without even a murmur to Tom Parlon. Now, under parliamentary privilege, he says the attempted management buy-out of Aer Lingus was an attempt to "steal the assets", rightly opposed "by every trade unionist".
Having been the voice of the right-wing Government since the last election, Mr Ahern now seems to have turned completely on his head; his new views seem to be diametrically opposed to the strongly pro-Ibec views expressed recently by his Minister for Finance.
In the last pre-election year the Government spent like there was no tomorrow; will that farcical history be repeated? Are we going to see another attempted Government buyout of the electorate? Would that be stealing? - Yours, etc,
HUGO BRADY BROWN, Stratford on Slaney, Co Wicklow.
