Sir, - T.W. Scott-Golden (April 17th) complained about the growing problem of gridlock in Dublin's traffic.
Perhaps one step towards reducing the problem would be to build a second airport for Dublin on the southside. At some times of year traffic to and from the airport is over 16 per cent of Dublin's total.
If another airport was at Baldonnel, the western and transatlantic air traffic could originate there, leaving the present airport to handle traffic with Britain and Europe. - Yours, etc.,
Cllr Vincent MacDowell, (Independent), Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, County Hall, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
