A chara, - The current Government campaign is to be welcomed in that it has raised the issue of young people drinking for discussion. Obviously, as John Devlin pointed out (July 24th), such campaigns face stiff competition from the drinks industry, however, advertising is not the only influence on young people, although admittedly, a potent one.

Another factor which strongly influences young people is the attitude of their parents, older siblings and peers. The aforementioned groups encompasses most of society and it is up to such people as individuals to examine the influence their attitude towards alcohol has on those around them. As a social issue it is the responsibility of all in society to make an additional change in this regard, not just the job of the young. Le meas -
