Madam, – The objectives of the Dublin Bus Network Direct project are laudable (Home News, April 22nd).
A simpler, more direct, frequent and reliable service is to be welcomed – however, they also plan to take out another 90 buses on top of the 120 buses taken off the routes last year in an attempt to save an additional €12 million a year.
No bus company can improve its service while removing a total of 20 per cent of its vehicles. The elderly who depend on public transport will pay part of the price of these “improvements” as routes through housing estates are curtailed. – Yours, etc,
