An emblem for Rising and Somme

Sir, – As the centenaries of the Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme approach many Irish people now acknowledge that honouring the memory of those who fought in Dublin or France need not be mutually exclusive.

Could both events not be commemorated by the design of an inclusive emblem?

Such an emblem need have no partisan significance but could be worn from April to July to remember all Irish people who died in that fateful year.
