Madam, – Our economy may be in tatters, our banks bankrupt, our debts huge but our main asset, the Irish “personality” and “soul” is very much alive and perhaps stronger than ever before. This fact was evident in the reaction of the “ordinary” people of Ireland to our two visitors from overseas, Her Majesty the Queen and President Barack Obama.
We can once again be very proud to say we are Irish as the media transmitted our uniqueness to the rest of the world.
This is what we are, this is what we have always been and this is what we should continue to be. During the Celtic Tiger years we lost our way a little, but thankfully we are back to “ourselves”. – Yours, etc,
