Madam, - I couldn't agree more with Gerry O'Beirne (July 2nd). Really, if you must insist that Charles Krauthammer's neo-con ravings constitute international news (and thus merit publication upon that page) then I would suggest that at the very least you should afford Garrison Keilor's column the same status.
It would be nice, for a change, to see on your paper's big stage an American columnist who embodies the optimism, generosity and decency which are the better part of that great nation's contribution to this world.
Instead, we have the smug and self-justifying right-wing intellectual gymnastics through which Mr Krauthammer tries to explain away and deny the terrible damage inflicted upon us all by the Bush/Cheney axis of ignorance. - Yours, etc,
