Madam, - Having had contact with Annette Beausang over many, many years of contributing to this page, I share the sentiments, so aptly and movingly expressed in M.O'B's appreciation of November 21st.
I first made her acquaintance in the orbit of The Irish Press that nursery of so many distinguished journalists. The Press, which drew its oxygen from the mists of De Valera's Ireland, is now prematurely, unhappily, part of the mists itself. Annette was very proud of her family connections with the Independence movement.
A lovely person, she was a perfect example of how it was possible to be a paragon of professionalism and still remain a warm understanding, outreaching human being. - Yours, etc.,
J.P. DUGGAN, Mount Merrion, Co Dublin.
