Madam, – I was at school in Synge Street, CBS, in the 1940s, and at that time the Anti-Partition Association of Ireland was fairly prominent.
I have a memory of people from this association coming to the school to address us on the evils of partition but I am not sure of the year in question.
My memory is that the principal speaker was one Conor Cruise O’Brien.
If my memory is correct, it would indicate a quantum leap in Mr Cruise O’Brien’s mind to going from that to marching around Belfast on behalf of the UK Unionist Party.
