A chara - If John Hume opts out of the race for the Park, if a clergyman is eligible for election as President of our country and provided that he would be interested, I would gladly propose that the Rev. Roy McGee would be accepted as an agreed nominee for the post.
After John Hume no other individual did more in the interest of peace in our country than he. He is not interested in the glare of publicity, but is ever willing to work behind the scenes and meet with and talk to paramilitaries on both sides of the divide.
His quiet sincerity is recognised and respected by all. The post of Presidency would give him wider horizons and enable him to use his undoubted peace making talents at home and abroad. - Le meas,
