Sir, – In your feature "50 best apps to aid learning" (April 14th), the writer notes an app aimed at toddlers. The under-threes should be kept away from tablet computers, as this is a vital period for their speech development. Parents who give toddlers tablet computers as baby-sitting devices are not doing them any favours. Parents have to ask what type of child they would like – a happy, chatty, social child, or an insular, withdrawn and cranky child? – Yours, etc,
JOHN DEVLIN,
