Sir, - The letter from John Graby, Director of The Royal Institute of the Architects in Ireland (April 8th) is typical of the attitude associated with a profession - that seems to fear competition, not to mention cooperation, from and with other equally competent disciplines within the Built Environment.

If Mr Graby was familiar with the education and training of building surveyors in particular, he could not make such uninformed, fatuous statements. Maybe an RIAI field trip to one of the progressive Built Environment faculties in a UK university would dispel such notions of self importance. - Yours, etc.,
