Madam, - Last month you published a letter which I wrote about the restrictions facing Dublin Bus customers intending to reclaim excess funds paid as a result of not having the exact change when boarding a bus (December 27th). My letter generated positive and negative comment, in addition to a variety of suggested improvements to the current policy.
These include the use of refund tickets as a contribution to future fares, the installation of change machines, the reintroduction of bus conductors and allowing retail outlets that sell bus tickets to issue refunds.
While Dublin Bus remains silent on the issue a seven figure sum in unclaimed refunds sits in its bank account attracting interest. Is a response imminent or have we reached the terminus? - Yours, etc,
SHANE O'SULLIVAN, Kincora Road, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
