Sir, - The principled stand of Michael Bell in relation to the Army deafness cases is extraordinary. Mr Bell has a great deal to lose in taking the strong and courageous step that he has taken in solidarity with the Army deafness claimants.
If the voters of Co Louth are listening to the vicious vilification of these men by the Minister, the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and media commentators, then Mr Bell is putting his political career on the line on a matter of principle.
