A chara, - One cannot help but sympathise with Lt-Col Gerald Swan (December 9th) who outlines the frustrating problems caused by his hearing loss. Indeed, he accurately describes the problems which I too have encountered for many years due to hearing impairment.
There is, however, one significant difference. My problem, that of like thousands of other people, developed over the years, even though we were never in the Army. Had we been, we might, like Lt-Col Swan, have been able to claim compensation. - Le meas,
