Madam, - Wesley Boyd believes that George Campbell from Arklow has recently become "the first Irish artist to have an actual physical location named after him anywhere in the world" (An Irishman's Diary, March 13th).

I suggest that Mr Boyd should take the short flight to London where he will find an array of long-established streets named after the likes of the painters Maclise, Mulready and Orpen; composers Balfe and Stanford; writers Burke, Dermody, Goldsmith, Shaw, Sheridan and Swift; and actor Charles Macklin. - Yours, etc,
