Madam, - I feel ashamed to be amongst those artists getting a percentage on each resold work in auction houses in America, Europe and now in this country.
I feel that it is greedy, because once one has sold something - a house, a piece of furniture - it no longer is yours physically. (Copyright is a different matter.)
In addition, the new system creates gross paperwork, and helps only those artists who are already receiving high prices for their work. People will be tempted to send works of art to untraceable venues for auction, leaving Ireland short of some valuable pieces. - Yours, etc,
