Sir, - Mark McStay of Friarstown (May 18th) wrote that Kildare is being used as a "dumping ground". This suggests that he believes that asylum-seekers are rubbish, since this is what one dumps in a dumping ground. Does anyone else find this mentality troubling? Also, as one of a wave of Irish emigrants to the US I must confess that we were "in the main economic migrants". Oddly enough, this now seems to be a great crime for those who arrive in Ireland from less fortunate lands. - Yours, etc.,
