Sir, - Watching the Prime Time programme on alcohol abuse and our young boys and girls being carted off to the city's accident and emergency departments of our hospitals in a state of oblivion was, to say the least, shocking.
It's ironic that this programme went out just 24 hours after Bill Clinton left our shores having lunched in a brewery and having heard our Taoiseach saying goodbye to him in his local pub in Drumcondra.
Guinness have stated that Clinton's visit to the Hopstore was worth approximately £2million in advertising. What better way to glamorise drink for our young people? As we are now the second largest consumer of alcohol in the world, is it not time we came to our senses. - Yours, etc.,
