Sir, - Accusations have been flying in recent months about how The Irish Times and the Irish in general are naïve, anti-American dupes (and worse) for criticising US foreign policy.
These allegations came thick and fast after President Bush's "with us or against us" speech and usually take the form of how most other countries spectacularly fail to live up to the standards that these critics set for the US.
Does it really need to be pointed out that self-improvement shouldn't stop just because you are the best of a bad lot? - Yours, etc.,
