Sir, – Gerry Thornley isn't far off the mark in suggesting the Irish fans at the Aviva haven't measured up to the on-pitch performances of the Irish rugby team ("Six Nations hits high notes on pitch but Aviva atmosphere lacks again", Sport, March 22nd).
Perhaps us enthusiastic supporters are only getting used to the freedom of extending the lungs again, although the sipping of pints in the stands does restrict the volume of that famous Lansdowne roar. We just need to try, try and up the volume! – Yours, etc,
