Sir, – I find it most unfortunate that it is necessary to remind Jacqui Byrne (March 16th) that maintaining Ireland’s reputation abroad is part of the job of our elected representatives. Travelling on St Patrick’s Day has always been a part of Ireland’s effort to project a positive image overseas in the interest of trade and tourism. We could choose to be isolationists, but I am not sure that would benefit anybody – not even those who enjoy taking pot shots at politicians – just look at North Korea. – Yours, etc,
