A chara, - While I accept and agree with the comments by Vincent Browne (Opinion, May 16th) about the acceptance of a religion's perspective in the secular square, surely Diarmuid Martin has the right to express his opinion?
I do not see any evidence that Dr Martin is adamant that his voice is the sole voice. To ban any voice in the present discourse is to return to a Republic that has faded and failed. A religious voice has a equal right to participate in the secular debate. To deny the right of free speech is to deny the existence of pluralism and that would be a retrograde step. - Yours, etc,
