Madam, – May I suggest that until Brian Cowen reduces his salary to below that of the British prime minister, his ministers reduce their salaries, the CEOs of all semi-State bodies halve their incomes, can the Government expect the “ordinary” person in the street to take any more financial pain.
Let the Government rid us of the bankers still in place who had responsibility for the banking fiasco.
I also suggest that the ministerial cars are removed and that a car pool is established, as in Britain.
Until the above changes have been implemented and the Taoiseach and Minister for Finance have sorted out their own excessive incomes along with all members of the house, they should not turn to us to bail out this country. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Why not employ an alchemist? He might succeed and certainly couldn’t do worse than the practitioners of the dismal “science” have done. - Yours, etc,
