CARMEN SPENCER,
Sir, - If Kava kava, a herbal remedy for depression, is banned after 50 deaths have been related to the drug, why are cigarettes, with over 7,000 confirmed deaths every year in this State alone, sold over shop counters like packets of sweets?
One may conclude that the Government has less to lose from banning St John's Wort and Kava kava, which have been proven to relieve depression, than banning cigarettes which are proven to kill. - Yours, etc.,
CARMEN SPENCER,
