A chara, – I agree that artwork of cultural value should be taken in to State ownership if possible, but refuse to believe that every piece of artwork owned by Bank of Ireland has this cultural (and economic) value (per the artists’ letter, May 21st). Can it really be the case that the long-term value of this collection makes it worth holding on to?

I just can’t believe I live in a country where a bank makes better investment decisions about the paintings on the walls than it makes about the money in the safes hidden behind them! – Is mise,
