Bank's sale of art collection

Madam, – I have banked with the Bank of Ireland for the past 30 years.

Madam, – I have banked with the Bank of Ireland for the past 30 years.

Like many others I am appalled at the state of our country due to the malpractices of the banking system and the lack of any regulation by Government. The recently reported plan of the Bank of Ireland to sell its art collection on the open market is regrettable. Rather than make a gesture of appreciation that the collection was built on profits made on the hard-earned money of Irish people for decades, the bank is apparently interested in a cosmetic exercise aimed at redeeming its reputation and credibility. May I suggest that the bank give the collection to a public institution as a gesture of gratitude for being bailed out by the same people at immense cost? – Yours, etc,
