Sir, – I suggest your correspondent from Dungarvan (Letters, May 3rd) is being a little unfair about the investment by Leitrim Development Company (LDC) in the proprietors of the Lovely Leitrim barge hotel.
This is a niche holiday experience and there is a potential market expansion here for more of this type of boating accommodation and it also adds to the rich variety of great holiday treats which Leitrim already has to offer.
I would hope it is just the beginning for this type of luxury barge holiday and I commend the foresight of LDC in assisting this creative enterprise.
The vessel owners deserve full credit for embarking on such a venture and enhancing the visitor experience to Leitrim’s inland waterways, thus ensuring visitors will regale their friends with tales about their cruise, the variety of great restaurants, pubs, music, and outdoor activities, promoting a welcome increase in visitors. – Yours, etc,
