A chara, – It would seem rather obvious or should that be “basic” to describe Tanya Sweeney’s article about the anodyne state of pop culture as selective. (“‘Basic bitches’ and an anodyne pop culture”, July 6th)
We are rightly, regularly reminded that we are in a golden age of television, for example Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Cinema continues to produce gems such as Argo and Senna.
Moreover, no less a figure than Camille Paglia hailed Eminem’s latest album as “a serious work of psychological art.”
Ms Sweeney’s article was amusingly tart but doth the lady protest too much? – Yours, etc,
