Sir, – The dark nights are here and pedestrians in dark jackets should realise that they are almost invisible when crossing roads.
Even a small reflective band on a sleeve could mean the difference between life and death. Most cyclists are aware of this but few pedestrians seem to know the danger they are in. Manufacturers of coats should put reflective strips on jackets as some shoe manufacturers do.
Sometimes all one sees in headlights are the stripes on a pair of shoes. I urge everyone to get in the habit of putting on a hi-vis jacket, waistcoat or belt before going out after dark. – Yours, etc,
MARGARET MARSHALL,
