Sir, - On a recent drive to go hiking in the Dublin Mountains on the last Bank Holiday Monday, I was shocked and amazed by the amount of burnt-out cars on the Killakee Road on the way to Kippure. This road is an area of outstanding natural beauty and views, and is spoilt by the abundance of wrecks, many of which I presume were stolen. Surely something can be done to clear these, as not only are they polluting an outstanding natural resource, but by allowing the cars to remain there, they serve as "trophies" for the people who burnt them out in the first place. - Yours, etc.,
Brian Martin, St Augustines Park, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
