Madam, - I was dismayed to see on last Saturday's front page the picture of Bertie Ahern presenting a bowl of shamrock to George Bush. The Taoiseach's smug, self-satisfied face gave no indication of any concern for the tears and blood being shed in Iraq, or for the agony of the prisoners being held without trial in Guantanamo Bay - many of whom, I believe, have been transported through Shannon Airport by courtesy of his Government in order to curry favour with a US president who is now generally regarded as the man who poses the greatest threat to world peace and the survival of the planet.
However, those who disapprove of this prostration before American power will soon have an opportunity to make their voices heard in the general election - Yours, etc,
