Madam, - You report that on account of the Taoiseach being registered at birth as Bartholomew Ahearne, "Bertie may not be what he seems to be" (April 26th). The deviation in Bertie's nomenclature is actually far less significant than that of some other contemporary politicians. Bill Clinton's surname is that of his adoptive father. Tony Blair's is that of his father's adoptive parents and John Major's derives from his father's stage name. Genealogically speaking Clinton is actually a Blythe, Blair a Parsons and Major a Bull. - Yours, etc.,
