Sir, – Further to letters about cycling on footpaths and contravention of the road traffic regulations, maybe Cork and Dublin could follow Waterford City Council’s lead.
Here on the city’s ring road, the footpath is for all comers – cyclists, pedestrians, perambulators, dogs and the odd horse. There are signs advising cyclists to slow down for pedestrians. There are even hopscotch areas on the footpath near the bus stops.
Is this “fun for all the family footpath” the way forward? – Yours, etc,
