Sir, - If, as Nigel Cooke suggests (letters, January 25th), the Irish Government does have evidence relating to Bloody Sunday, one cannot help wondering why it has been kept secret for 25 years. Also, if this information exists, then how much more is there relating to the 1974 Dublin Monaghan bombings, which took place within the Government's own jurisdiction?

Last year, while lobbying senior political figures at Leinster House, members of our organisation were told that the Department of Justice had in its possession vital details on these bombings which it refuses to release. It is time the lid was lifted off this most secretive of government departments. - Yours, etc.,
