Sir, - I refer to Seamus Martin's report "Islamic Link fear in Russian bombings" (The Irish Times, September 14th,) and have to say that your reporter has quite unfairly attempted to hang Pakistan on the peg of Islam phobia.

While it is not the intention of this mission to discuss obsessions of the West, allow me to state that neither Pakistan nor any of its institutions has any connection at all with any terrorist activity in the world.

Your reporter has tried to sensationalise the separatist tendencies in parts of Russia. Allow me to put it on record that Pakistan has always condemned violence and human rights violations. It has also strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorism and bomb blasts in Moscow and elsewhere. - Yours, etc.,

Samina Parvez, Press Attache, High Commission for Pakistan, Lowndes Square, London SW1.

Seamus Martin writes: The allegations against Pakistan's secret service (ISI)were made not by me but by Mr Yossef Bodanski, director of the Task Force against Terrorism and Non-conventional warfare for the United States House of Representatives. It is clear from the article that the views were his and not mine.
