Madam, - Some people, including Cllr Maurice Ahern, have recently expressed sensitivity about the reception the Taoiseach has been getting when he goes among the people.
Peter Finnegan (July 14th) expresses what was once my own view, that the Taoiseach should be treated with unusual respect because of the office he holds. But by demonstrating that he believes it appropriate that while in office he should be going about the country opening public houses, the Taoiseach calls upon his own head the behaviour of the public bar when he encounters large numbers of the deceived public. - Yours, etc.,
