BRAIN POWER

Sir, - I genuinely hate to spoil a good story or even the heading to it

Sir, - I genuinely hate to spoil a good story or even the heading to it. However I should like to refer to your irresistible headline "`Brain-damaged' man studying law, insurance firm tells court" (March 6th). In fact, it seems clear when one reads the body of the article that the insurance firm's (successful) claim was such the headline might better have read: "`Non brain-damaged' man studying law, insurance firm tells court". This, of course, would have relegated the beguiling heading to the level of the classic Welsh banner headline: "Swansea man marries Swansea woman in Swansea!"

Given that we are just now recruiting for the forthcoming intake to the Evening BCL Degree here, perhaps it would be fair to put it on record that, though since this is often second-chance education - our evening students come to us from many and varied directions, what they share is great ability and great commitment to the course. - Yours, etc.,
