Sir, - With all the welcome that has been given to the statement from the IRA, it cannot mean very much, unless we know what they mean by "a just and lasting peace".
It could include: "Brits out of Northern Ireland".
I cannot see the IRA parting with any of their arms, unless they are in a position to say, "We have achieved most of what we fought for". - Yours, etc.,
