My main reason for supporting the EU is the cause of peace. If, a hundred years ago, your editor had forecast a day when 28 of the warring tribes would be joined in one club on terms of equality, when the great debate would be on economics, with no mention of war, and with the two great curses of tribalism and religion kept firmly in place, the lads in the white coats would have come and taken him away.
