Sir, - While others debate the merits of the LUAS, I would like to remind your readers that Broadstone Station, only a few minutes' walk from the city centre, has remained closed for 39 years. The main station building, described by the historian Maurice Craig as "the last building in Dublin to partake of the sublime," is truly one of the most magnificent in the city.

Yet it is used only for storing and washing buses, and remains cut off from public view by some commercial buildings and a gallery of advertising hoardings. It is inconceivable that this would be allowed to happen in any other city in Europe. It is high time that Dublin Corporation and CIE (both funded by our taxes) got together to restore this building to public view and to an appropriate civic use. - Yours, etc.,

Fontenoy Street,

Broadstone,
