Bruton criticises blame game

Sir, – Where would I be without words from the wise to keep me in line? It was John Bruton’s turn to point me in the right direction with his Easter sermon: the crux of his wise words being that vengeance does not cure injury to victims (Home News, April 7th).

Apparently, he was irked that the press was looking for someone to blame for Ireland’s ills. He hasn’t realised that dumb peasants like myself have worked out who is at fault for the debt we peasants are burdened with.

Furthermore, we wait with bated breath to see if anyone is brought to account for the massive fraud and dishonesty that occurred. However, although the press keep reminding those in power that there are victims here, we will have a long time to wait to see the powerful accountable. After all, the courts and justice system will be busy chasing property tax defaulters, garlic importers and women who don’t want trees cut down. – Yours, etc,
