Madam, - Well done to the North's direct rule authorities, who have introduced a ban on single buildings in the countryside, with very few exceptions, in an effort to prevent the spread of "bungalow blight".
Our own politicians would do well to follow suit before our rural landscape has been totally engulfed in one-off houses. Surely the tourist industry and future generations of Irish people would benefit from a similar ban in the Republic.
A concentration of housing in towns and villages, where people could walk to shops, schools and other amenities would both enhance community spirit and reduce our over dependency on cars.
It is not too late to shout "Stop". - Yours, etc,
